Hasitha Walagamagedara is a passionate martial artist, entrepreneur, and pioneer in Sri Lankan combat sports. An alumnus of Nalanda College, Colombo, Hasitha’s foundation in martial arts spans decades and disciplines. He began his journey training in boxing under veteran coach Srilal Gomes and mastering Wushu under Sifu Nayanananda Edirisinghe, later expanding his skill set to include Full Contact Karate under various international masters while working abroad. Continuously evolving as a practitioner, Hasitha immersed himself in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), studying under renowned professors including Renato Migliaccio, Ilya Anisimov, and Steve Barr. Driven by a passion for sharing his knowledge, he has dedicated years to coaching No-Gi BJJ, mentoring fighters, and developing local talent. As the President of Highland Fighting Championship—Sri Lanka’s premier and first outdoor MMA promotion—Hasitha is dedicated to elevating the island’s combat sports scene onto the global stage. Professionally, he balances his athletic leadership with an active role as an entrepreneur, serving as the Managing Director of Ceylon Hospitality Academy.
